Events events events!

Summer has arrived. Well at least I think it has? Which means that we’re off to the races, supporting our team and fuelling those sensible folk who want to be powered by TORQ.

We are of course attending all of the NPS events, with the exception of the next event at Margam Park. And we’ll be at both of Partick Adam’s events, Saab Saloman Mountain Mayhem and Sleepless in the Saddle.

We have always sponsored and supported the Gorrick races, because they are incredibly well organised and are quite simply the best-attended cross country races in the UK – and we will continue to do so into 2007. The last round of the current series is this Sunday.

Beastway’s midweek series is in its final year and starts next week. Beastway isn’t finishing because of lack of popularity – far from it, the Olympic contract for 2012, although exciting for us, means that East London’s Eastway Cycle Circuit will be demolished. This makes us deeply sad at TORQ, because we have a long history with organisers John and Bill. We will be supporting Beastway in its final year and will be in attendance at the final round to help marshal, of course bring along some prizes and say goodbye (sob sob!) We will be supplying prizes and TORQ products will be available for purchase at the Café.

And as an alternative to Beastway, there’s the new Wednesday evening Summit Series near High Wycombe. This doesn’t compete with Beastway, because it’s right over the other side of London, but does give West Londoner’s a chance to Mountain Bike race during the week. Again, we are sponsoring this series with prizes and TORQ products will be on sale during registration.

Finally, last, but by no means least, on June 4th the Beyond Mountain Bikes/Specialized team promote in association with the West Drayton MBC the 8th Buckinghamshire Off-Road Classic, this is a 100km endurance event, not a race, but a very tough challenging mainly off-road route with country lanes linking up the off-road sections . The event starts at Denham Country Park, Denham , Bucks within the perimeter of the M25 but don’t be fooled by the start location this is a toughie , endless hills, with the first riders back in 2005 recording times of 6 hours! TORQ bars will be given out free of charge at the halfway point.

Details of this event can be found at www.westdraytonmbc.co.uk

Details of the TORQ-sponsored Dusk till Dawn to follow shortly. The venue is being finalised at the moment, but we’ll let you know as soon as we know. We will be supplying all the energy drinks again this year FOC…
