James Emery is the Manager of TORQ's Triathlon team. He's a keen triathlete having raced all distances from sprint to Ironman.
Still training to get back to his full form, Alex Lawton powered through the event generating momentum as the race progressed, really working the run to get a fantastic Podium finish…
Sitting at his desk, watching snowflakes falling just days prior to taking a dip at the Triathlon England Championships at Grafham Water and St Neots, Cambridgeshire, Alex's mind was understandably preoccupied with the weather. However, the predictably contrary British climate turned in a scorching day for the race.
Alex had some work to do post swim and whilst he made up several places on the bike, he didn't gain quite enough and left himself a lot to do on the run. Motoring his way through the field, a solid run saw Alex eat up a lot of ground and secure a Bronze Medal in his AG and a top 5 overall. His one negative about this race was the foot down stop at a main road junction, completely understandable why it's needed, but one person could lose a few seconds whilst another could lose 10, 30 seconds, or even more depending on traffic, but you hope these things even themselves out across the season.
