Bishopbriggs Sprint

Emma Lamont’s first Triathlon of the Season was held up in Scotland, where she took the win for Overall Female…

Following a great 10 days of warm weather training in Majorca, this was my first Triathlon of the 2015 Season and also my first race in a very busy few months of racing/events which will culminate in a jaunt down south for UK 70.3 at Wimbleball at the end of June.

Conditions were cold and windy, but the faster heats were lucky to miss the torrential rain that graced Glasgow at the start of the day. This is a great local race (on closed roads), where a lot of my local club were also taking part. This resulted in LOTS of great supporters that made plenty of noise on each of the bike laps, of which there were 4.

This race involved a pool swim and I managed to get out of the pool in second place. This then resulted in a big fight back on the bike, where I managed to take the lead on lap 3. From there, I led to the finish via a very muddy run along the canal.

Overall,  this was a fun race and it was great to get my first competition of the year out of the way, to dust off the cobwebs and to see how things were after a great training camp earlier in the month. Thanks to the great Fenwick’s products, my bike is sparkling again after yet another wet outing in Scotland!
