The fact that Iain Robertson travelled from Norfolk to Bala for this race, is indeed testament to the quality of the event and to the Elite field it draws every year. Iain showed his competitors the blur of his black and orange TORQ racing kit and put in such an effort that he placed 4th Overall and 1st in his Age Group…
Here is Iain’s account of the race:
“I have wanted to do a Triathlon race at Bala for a few years now. The setting is stunning and the event attracts a good field. On the Saturday (the day before the race), the weather was pretty horrendous, where three foot waves met the swimmers for their races. Fortunately it was calmer on race day, but by no means flat.
I was off in the Vets’ wave, so was away from the action. It was a choppy swim, not fast, but I felt fresh after being on someone’s feet. The undulating bike course (I guess that is a Norfolk perspective!), looked exciting and I went off hard. I felt great on the bike and tried to gauge how far off the leaders I was. I had a solid run and pushed hard to see how far up I could come Overall. I was really pleased with 4th Overall and 1st in Age Group.”
