Wow, the team had a brilliant outing at the Chester triathlon, which also doubled as a World Championship qualifying event for the prestigious Hyde Park event (on the 2012 Olympic course). 

Nick is an incredible runner and a World Class age group duathlete with countless wins to his name, so to step away from his obvious talents and take on the swim element of multisport is quite an ambitious step, yet it is already paying dividends…

With the weather warming up and the triathlon season rapidly approaching (and securing the early season aims of becoming a British Masters champion on the track) it has been time to throw the spikes in the bin and develop my swimming to an almost competitive state.  

A very solid race by Hamish Shaw, recording some fantastically quick times and reaping the benefits with a podium overall and 2nd in his age group…

Here’s what Hamish had to say: The last time I raced at Dorney Lake was back in 2010 where it was a non-wetsuit swim due to the warmth. 

The first race of the season always delivers heightened excitement; has the hard work done during the cold and dark winter been worthwhile? 

Challenge lived up to its name on this occasion, yet Eleanor Haresign kept it together and made the top 10 in her first professional race whilst flying the flag for Great Britain in the European middle distance championships. 

Chris Standidge races to an impressive 5th place in his age group. 

Chirk is generally considered the first proper hit out for triathletes in the North West, West Midlands and Mid-Wales, attracting the most talented people in the region. 

TORQ are pleased to welcome Hamish Shaw to the team, a very accomplished triathlete racing both domestic and international races in for his age group. 

Another of our new recruits, Eleanor Haresign, has started the season with a podium in a half-ironman in the sun. 

Although the season is yet to get fully underway, the team have been mixing it up a bit recently and here’s a bit of background as to what they’ve been up to as the winter finally draws to a close. 

For our first Triathlon report of 2013, we are starting with our very accomplished duathlon racer; Nick Shasha. 

Nick our superfast triathlete is also a very talented runner, recently finishing 5th in a field of 14,000 at the Amsterdam half marathon.
