Sitting at his desk, watching snowflakes falling just days prior to taking a dip at the Triathlon England Championships at Grafham Water and St Neots, Cambridgeshire, Alex’s mind was understandably preoccupied with the weather.

Dragon Slayer
Nick put in a storming 1st run and held things together for the bike to take Silver overall at the Dragon Slayer Duathlon held at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Cycle Circuit in London.

Euro Battle
TORQ Performance Triathlon Team’s Nick Shasha fought off some of Europe’s best with brilliant runs at the European Sprint Duathlon Championships in Kalkar, Germany, only being nudged into 4th place by some demon cycling rivals…
A sizzling first run saw Nick taking over a minute out of most of the field, and although he lost several places on the bike to some demon time trialists, his second run redressed some of the balance bringing him to a finish just shy of the podium in 4th place.

Medals Galore
TORQ Performance triathlete, Chris Standidge, maintained his winning streak with another Gold, TORQ Ambassador Beth Hughes ran to win a brilliant Gold, Alex Lawton took Silver and Dave Mawhinney podiumed with Bronze in Age Group; a very nice medal tally for the TORQ team at the Chirk Triathlon, where the racing was seriously tight and seconds made a big difference…Chirk is nearly always Chris Standidge’s Triathlon season opener, and he was chasing his 5th win in a row and 6th win in 7 years.

Iain Robertson battled through the mud to win Silver in Age Group, while Nick Shasha raced in the Elite/Professional category of the British Duathlon Championships at Windsor.

In his first race of the season, the North West Duathlon Championships, Alex podiums with a well earned Silver having fought a tough battle throughout.

Nick tackled the fog and the competition to finish 2nd in Age Group at the Bedford Autodrome Duathlon, earning instant qualification for the World Duathlon Championships in Aviles, Spain.

Gun to Tape Win!
A brilliant first report of the season comes from Nick Shasha, who took the lead on the first run at the Anglian Water Sprint Duathlon, held his position on the bike, then pushed into a convincing win on the final run.
