Iʼve been passionate about all things two wheels since as long as I can remember – starting out racing motocross before taking up downhill mountain biking, I raced this at World level winning multiple Irish national titles and strong finishes in the UCI downhill World cup series. In 2016 I decided to transition to road cycling after entering a few local road races, I went on to represent Ireland at international events and rode 2 years at UCI Continental level for Vitus Pro Cycling.
At the end of 2021 I decided to move back to mountain biking, specifically XCO. I wanted to race in the 2022 commonwealth games and had a clear target for the year with a top 15 in a UCI race being the qualification criteria to get selected for Northern Ireland. Fast forward to March 2022 and I finished 8th in a UCI class 1 race in Portugal and secured my place in the games. The Commonwealth Games were certainly my career highlight from all my years racing – the overall experience was incredible and to finish 9th in the XCO race and helping my team mate to a 4th in the road race was the icing on the cake.
For 2023 I plan on focussing solely on XCO mountain biking and targeting UCI world cup and class 1 / 2 races in the build up to the 2023 World Championships in Glasgow. I’m excited to have TORQ back me for my nutrition needs and I know I’ll be well fuelled in my training and racing.
