After the Cape Epic, Sally returned to the UK – hoping for some nice spring weather, but getting snow and rain instead! Undeterred by the elements, Sally was able to rest and recover, and then started preparations for the European race season.
Sally – Last week we packed our van and started our annual Euro road trip. We’ll be driving around Belgium, Germany, Austria, Italy and France racing for the next months. Our trip started with the UCI World Series Race at Houffalize last Saturday. In the weeks before the race, heavy rain meant there was plenty of mud and very challenging race conditions! Despite the cold, my legs and body worked well and I was able to win ahead of French BH Suntour rider, Helen Marcouyre. At the finish line I looked a little bit like a Belgian chocolate – and it took more than 30 minutes in the shower to wash off the Houffalize mud. Given the cold, I didn’t drink much, so I fuelled up with 5 TORQ gels during the 5 hour race and 2 litres of TORQ energy. Normally I have TORQ Recovery drink at the finish, but because it was so cold I tried one of the new TORQ Recovery bars which are easy to stash in my finish line bag.
Now we are relaxing in Freiburg, Germany before the next UCI World Series race in Singen on Sunday. The sun is finally shining, so hopefully I’ll get some much needed vitamin D!

Congratulations to Sally from all at TORQ HQ!
