Nick Shasha has been with Torq for 3 years now and in that time has represented the Great Britain Age group squad in the European and World duathlon championships 3 times and won numerous duathlons and 5k’s/10k’s.
Far and away the highlight for me so far this season has to be my 3rd place at the Triathlon Cycling and Run show 10k. Over the years, this event has seem some of the finest names in triathlon turn up and race and this year was arguably the most competitive field ever with Lee Piercy (2009 National duathlon champion), and Harry Wiltshire (former student World tri champion) to name just two.
This race was particularly important to me as almost the entire Torq crew were at the show and lending their support.
One lap to go and I’ve dropped Harry Wiltshire – Can I hang on for third…YES! It really did hurt this much!
April marks the end of the duathlon national ranking series for me, having completed races in Clumber Park, Steyning and Milton Keynes. The highlight was Steyning where I recorded 2 fast splits on both runs and finished top 3 in my age group.
Out on the run and bike at Steyning, national ranker.
Before the start of the first national ranker of the year at Clumber park and standing next to Olympic gold medal winner James Cracknell…as you do.
So, what’s left for 2010? I’ve qualified to represent Great Britain in the European Age Group Duathlon Championships in Nancy, France in early May and the Essex AAA’s track & field champs, (5k) are coming up a week later and then a whole host of hot duathlons.
Sounds like a good opportunity to nibble on some more Torq products. Until next time,
Nick
