There’s just a few weeks to go until our 12 hour Mountain Bike Enduro “TORQ in your sleep” at Minley Manor near Yateley, and entries are now open. To make things easier, as it is the holiday season and it can be difficult to organise teams, it’s fine for you to enter an incomplete team at this stage and to confirm it on the day of the event when you collect your race number pack. The options available are Solo, Pairs, or Teams of 3 or 4. We do recommend that you get your entries in sooner rather than later though…
TORQ will be giving away free bottles, energy bars or gels to every rider. In addition they’ll be supplying your energy needs at the on-course TORQ POWER STATION with free energy drink. Mountain Trax, the race numbers sponsor will have a collection of demo bikes to test and a full list will be published soon. Please bring ID such as a driving licence on the day.
We are very pleased to announce that the following companies are supporting the event, not only as part of the trade village, but also by giving away some great prizes to race winners and also spot prizes:
Lumicycle Lights, Saddle Skedaddle – the new 2009 Spring Series XC sponsor, Action Cameras, Dodgy Gear Clothing, Bike Goo cleaning materials, 1st Gear Cycles, and Chelmer Cycles with the Cannondale demo truck.
The course, designed by Jon Lucas and Paul Howard, is taking shape and will be approximately 7 miles in length and a ‘typical Gorrick course’, i.e. flowing with sinuous singletrack through pine forest and a few technical challenges interspersed by short fireroads to aid recovery and refuelling. We can assure you that there is no riding round grassy fields of mud! The arena, rider transition area and camping are in the same field and there will be plenty of room for everyone. The final 500m of the course will comprise a very fast downhill blast awarding riders and spectators with a great view of the action.
The venue opens from 4pm on Friday when the course will be available for pre-riding. On-site facilities include free camping, showers, toilets, drinking water, hot and cold food throughout the weekend, a solo pit/camping area, full event commentary, race photographer and one or two surprises!
