After a sensational first season, the TORQ Track Team looks forward to achieving great success in 2016 with a four strong team…
The TORQ Track Team exceeded all expectations in their first race season. The team, which includes two time Commonwealth Silver Medallist, Louise Haston, nationally ranked Time Triallist, Melanie Sneddon and multiple Elite National Champion, Janet Birkmyre, were rarely off the podium in 2015 and took a number of notable victories. These included the overall win of the National Omnium Series for Jan, before all three of them medalled in every event they started at the National and World Masters Track Championships. In fact, the team took a stunning six World Masters titles and a new World Record, before the season was rounded off with an Elite National Title in the Derny Champs for Jan.
“The performance of the track team in its first season has been nothing short of stunning” stated Matt Hart, company founder and owner of TORQ Ltd., “and for 2016 we are happy to welcome multiple World Masters Champion and World Record holder, Maddy Moore, who will add even more fire power to what is already a highly respected team. The professionalism and dedication that the team riders have shown in their training and racing fits perfectly with our performance products and we look forward to seeing what they can achieve this year.”
The team of four riders, which will of course be fuelled by TORQ nutrition, will continue to ride custom-made Wilier carbon track frames, fitted with FFWD wheels and upgraded with CeramicSpeed bearings. The impressive list of sponsors from last year, including Lake cycling shoes, Limar helmets and glasses, ithlete (HRV measurement), RaceWare Direct (computer mounts), Fenwicks bike care and Lezyne tools are continuing their support into 2016. They are joined by Scimitar clothing, Amphibia bags and Zero Point compression wear.
The focus of the team will be the National Women’s Omnium Series, as well as some criteriums and time trials, in a season which will build up to the Elite National Track Championships, plus National and World Masters Track Championships.
