After not competing much lately, Ali jumped straight back into her running shoes, took the bull by the horns, raced twice within a week and produced some great results.
A win at the tough Felinheli 10km was a great confidence boost for Ali and, though a slower time, showed she was in good form. The following week, another win in another tough little race at Llanfairpwll 5km, Ali told us “I had to resist taking on the men whilst ‘tempo’ running the race”. Hoping a trip to London to take on the Vitality British 10km would bring her a fast time, the twisty and lonely race meant this wasn’t to be. Ali noted; “Most people’s times were down by over a minute, so I was glad of another indicator of good form and a third place on the podium behind two GB athletes”.
Following a few weeks training, moving house and job, it was time to take on the Podium 5km. Without much speedwork and with tired legs in the run-up to the race, Ali didn’t hold out hope for a quick time. However, with some “terrible pacing but great racing, it all came together for a road PB of 16.55”.
