Maddy Moore reflects on what cycling means to her as she prepares to defend three World Masters titles…
Maddy told us:
“This time last year I was just getting ready for what I thought may be my last World Masters Track Champs, with a plan to start a family lurking in the back of my mind. Alas, immediately after the World Masters, that plan was thwarted and my life felt a bit of a mess. I honestly, thought about giving up cycling, but it was my friends and teamies that propped me up when I felt down.
In January, I joined the TORQ Track Cycling Team and found myself surrounded by the most supportive team mates I could ever have asked for. We have shared a season of love, laughter, heckling and TORQ Banoffee gels. I head into the World Masters this year knowing that it highlights the things I love most about cycling – the beautiful cycling community that exudes warmth and friendship, where each competitor focusses on being at and doing their best, whilst also supporting everyone around them.
With injuries and crashes, the season has definitely had its ups and downs, but I go into the World Masters incredibly excited about competing and catching up with my crazy track cycling family.”
A big thank you to all our sponsors without whom, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do:
